Polar bear season in Churchill, Manitoba, peaks in October and November. During this time, hundreds of polar bears gather along the shores of Hudson Bay, waiting for the sea ice to form so they can begin hunting seals. Although Churchill is remote and accessible primarily by train, it is one of the best places in the world to view and photograph polar bears.

Churchill is known as the "Polar Bear Capital of the World." Despite their seemingly gentle appearance, polar bears pose a significant safety risk, and visitors remain within the Tundra lodge throughout their stay. Safari groups travel directly from the Tundra lodge to a tundra vehicle, a raised, reinforced all-terrain vehicle. My feet never touched the ground. These vehicles provide close-up views of these massive apex predators, allowing for exceptional observation and photography.
